Ohh I think I see what you are talking about, the stand alone office as in the one time purchase of the one year version that doesn’t update? However if you don’t like the 365 version, unless you have the option to customise the apps in your install from the office 365 website you can’t uninstall specific office 365 apps without deleting files manually which could cause damage if you don’t know what you are doing. Because if you don’t like this one as it is a Microsoft store app you can just right click on it in the start menu and uninstall it.

However I don’t understand your question completely, one note that comes with office 365 is one note 2016, and no other office app has to be open for it to open, are you thinking about one note for windows 10 (The one from Microsoft store). This could lead to students also being able to choose what apps specifically, so it may not apply to all office users. However, I do remember seeing an option once to customise the install of the office bundle which allowed specific apps to be added or removed from the bundle, but this could just be something to do with a school managed account where they can block and add certain apps to what students can download through the office 365 website (use the website not the windows 10 app). Iirc you can’t remove individual office 365 apps, they either have to all go or all stay, Relevant official documentation can be found here: Install/configure Office 365 - setup.exe /configure config.xml Going back to the first step, you should see a setup.exe file, you will NEED to execute the said file with the following arguments, with your configuration file being config.xml:ĭownload the installation files - setup.exe /download config.xml (wait for the console host WITH the Office installer to terminate before proceeding to install/configure)

Next, open this webpage AND then scroll-down to create your preferred configuration, such as selecting only which Office apps will be/remain installed: It's not straightforward, however you still MAY choose to install/remove specific apps from Office 365:įirst, download the Office Deployment Tool (ODT) and then run it to extract its contents:
